Welcome to the First Baptist Church web site, we are so happy that you are interested to know more about us. Please feel free to look around at whatever interests you. There are a few things we would like you to know about us right off the bat:
First, we strive, at all times, to be a warm and welcoming community that is doing our best together to live the Christian faith with an open heart, an open mind, and an open spirit.
But also, we are not afraid to ask tough questions as we seek to be wise and intelligent Christians in the modern world. We hope that you will come with your questions, as well as your desires and passions and great ideas.
We love people, all kinds of people! We freely embrace people of diverse backgrounds and experiences, welcoming them into the church and into our lives. So whether you have been a part of a church your whole life, or are just beginning to explore the idea of faith, you are welcome here. Whether you are young, old, gay, straight, democrat, republican, we welcome you. Our love (and we believe God’s love) is not contingent on your gender identity or expression. You don’t have to be smart to fit in here, but you can be. You don’t have to be rich, or well educated, but of course, if you are, you’re welcome too.
We strive to faithfully engage the great issues of our day by reaching out into our world with God’s love, justice, and mercy. Our faith does not stop when we leave church on Sunday morning. Rather, we carry it with us into our lives and into the world. And we want, every day, to help make the world a little more like the way we think God would want it to be.
And mostly what we want you to know is that we would love to have you share with us in our life together as we join in following Jesus Christ.
