Plan Your Visit

Welcome!

Here at First Baptist Church of Madison, we understand that stepping into an unfamiliar church for the first time can be intimidating and even uncomfortable for some people. So we have put together this guide to help you plan your first visit with us!

When you visit us, you can expect to feel welcomed and affirmed just as you are. First Baptist is a friendly, LGBTQ+ affirming, justice-driven church that honors freedom of thought and diversity of beliefs. No matter who you are, where you're from, whom you love, or where you are on your faith journey, you are welcome here.

We look forward to having you with us as our guest!

Sincerely,
Pastor Tim

What to Expect

Children

Welcome, Families! We are delighted to have you join us! Whether you choose to have your children stay with you during worship or take advantage of our childcare services, we warmly welcome you. We believe that children are a vital part of our community, and we’re excited to have them with us in worship making a joyful noise. You are welcome to grab an activity bin as you enter the sanctuary doors. For those who prefer, childcare is available with our dedicated and caring volunteers, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for your little ones.

Music

Enjoy the Music! We believe in the power of music to uplift and enhance our worship experience. At First Baptist, you'll hear a mix of music, ranging from traditional hymns to more contemporary praise and worship songs. Interested in joining our choir, handbell choir, or sharing your talents with us by providing special music? Visit our Music Ministry page to learn more about what we offer and how you can get involved. Join us in making a joyful noise and enhancing our worship experience through the power of music!

Serve

Join Us in Making a Difference! We believe in the power of service and the impact it can have on building community. We invite you to be a part of our mission by volunteering your time and talents. Whether you feel called to help with church activities, assist in community outreach, or lend a hand in our various ministries, there is a place for you. Your unique skills and compassionate heart can make a significant difference in the lives of others. Explore our volunteer opportunities and find a role that fits your passion and schedule. Together, we can build a stronger, more caring community.

Racial Justice

We recognize that our church has supported the mission of social justice for quite some time and celebrate that history and draw wisdom from our experiences, but we still have work to do. Racial inequity is still pervasive in our communities here in Dane County. What can we do to be a force of change in our own communities and around the world? What does it mean for us as Christians to commit to racial justice in this time and beyond? We are re-committing ourselves to this journey and recognize that we have work to do. We hope you'll join us in this important work!
